Sandy beaches in Norfolk

Holkham has definitely got to be one of the best sandy beaches in North Norfolk. Not only is it set within a beautiful nature reserve that’s bordered by pine trees, but it’s also absolutely huge. This means the dog (and their humans, too) will get a seriously great walk, plus you’ll have no trouble finding a spot for a good picnic.

Further east along the coast, Sea Palling is another great sandy beach in Norfolk. Sea Palling is a great choice for families, with waters that are safe for children thanks to coastal defenses. It’s also just down the road from Hickling, where there’s a lovely Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserve, perfect for a day trip.

Best beaches in North Norfolk

Thornham is one of the best beaches in north Norfolk if you’re after something that feels secluded and tucked away from the summer crowds. Further along the coast, Trimmingham is another one of the best hidden beaches Norfolk has to offer. It’s not at all obvious how to get there (which is exactly why it’s a well kept secret!), but a great route is to start at Mundesley and work your way along the coast.

Fancy seeing seals in their natural habitat? Head to Morston, one of the best beaches in North Norfolk for having regular seal boat trips. Just remember, like lots of the beaches on the Norfolk coast, Morston is a stoney pebble beach, which might not be for you if you have accessibility requirements.

Prefer the idea of going crabbing in a traditional seaside town? Head to Cromer, and make sure to get some fish and chips while you’re there, too (we recommend No.1 Fish and Chips). is one of the best beaches on the Norfolk coast if you’re looking for a traditional Victorian seaside town, complete with an iconic pier, arcades and a lifeboat museum

Still can’t decide which Norfolk beaches to visit while staying in our cabins? Why not hop along the Coastal Hopper bus service, or even a steam railway? Then you can sit back, take in the beautiful scenery and stop off at some of the best beaches in Norfolk along the way.
