2. Carnedd Llewelyn

One of the highest mountains in Snowdonia, after Snowdon, Carnedd Llewelyn sits proudly in the Carneddau range. At 3,491 feet tall, Carnedd Llewelyn is a popular peak renowned for rolling hills and grand corries (a hollow in a mountainside). There are approximately 13 routes to choose from and the summit boasts a big dome-shaped plateau, meaning you have to walk around to take in the best views.

3. Glyder Fawr

Another of the highest mountains in Snowdonia, is Glyder Fawr, the highest peak in the Glyderau range. At 3,284 feet tall, Glyder Fawr translates to ‘big mound’ in Welsh and is popular with adventurers thanks to its impressive views. There are many routes to choose from and the summit offers views across Ogwen Valley to the north, and Snowdon Horseshoe to the south.

Fun fact about Glyder Fawr: it is the 5th highest mountain in Wales having had its height recalculated in 2010 using GPS.

4. Tryfan

Next on our list of Snowdonia mountains, is Tryfan, one of the most exhilarating mountains to climb in the area. At 3,011 feet tall, Tryfan is situated between the picturesque villages of Capel Curig and Nant Peris. There are 3 distinct routes to choose from and the summit boasts views across Snowdonia.

At 2,930 feet tall, Cader Idris is one of the most popular mountains in South Snowdonia thanks to its varied choice of ascent routes. There are 3 routes to choose from, each offering a challenging climb and taking around 6 hours to complete.
