Tuck into some seriously good grub

From Welsh cakes with your morning cuppa to piping hot bowls of Cawl (a traditional Welsh stew) Wales is known for its hearty cuisine - and in Snowdonia you’re spoilt for choice.

Just 15 minutes from our Beddgelert woodland cabins, you’ll discover the quaint Hebog Cafe and Bistro. Try their famous Welsh lamb paninis finished with a slice of homemade bara brith (a traditional Welsh fruit cake) for a super satisfying lunch. Perfect after a day outdoors.

When you’re ready to see what the evening brings head to dog-friendly pub the Saracen’s Head. The only place you’ll find a refreshing pint of Faithful Gelert - a cask ale named after the folk legend that made Beddgelert famous.

Feeling peckish? They prepare all their dishes on site using local produce with plenty of vegetarian options too. You can find the Saracen’s Head a short 15 minute walk from our Beddgelert location.

Dance among the daffodils

As Wales is home to some of the most stunning scenery in the world, its culture is heavily influenced by a connection to nature. In fact two of its most famous icons come from the natural world - the leek and the daffodil.

You can begin looking out for daffodils from the moment you enter our Beddgelert location. Simply enjoy a wander through the picturesque glade and see what you can find amongst the mix of deciduous and evergreen trees.

But don’t worry if you can’t spot any ‘daffs’ - there’s plenty of other incredible flowers and plants to see as the forest begins to wake up for spring.

Take home a piece of traditional art

Holidays are all about making memories. Luckily your short break in Snowdonia will be remembered long after thanks to a little help from traditional Welsh craftsmanship.

A Lovespoon is a tradition which dates back to the 17th century. Young men would carve a wooden spoon (intricately decorated with Celtic knots and symbols of love) and present it to the girl they hoped to impress.

Back then it was a way to show their beloved’s family they had woodworking skills and could provide for a family. Nowadays, Lovespoons are simply a stylish home decor option, taking pride of place in many homes as a symbol of Welsh heritage and creativity.

At Beddgelert Woodcraft you can pick up your very own Lovespoon and browse a range of other incredible Welsh gifts, homeware and woodwork. All just a speedy 22 minutes away from our Beddgelert log cabins.
